Citizen Bob – 53081 TVA Departing for

The Ryan family will continue to enjoy Sheboygan, that’s what they do. TVA will be joining us this season as the new Captain of the Love boat, rebuild – restore – renew.

The Quarry exists, it can be opened with a free willie approach, cut the fences, open the area to full use. Like our rivers, or the big lake, let it be.

Winding down in a cartoon town has it’s advantages, enter normal guy Terry, Mayor of Schnoidtown.

get involved, get Sheboygan.

Patrick Drinan Pats Self on Back- Sheboygan Groans

The following is a monthly business column for The Sheboygan Press by Patrick Drinan, executive director of the Sheboygan County Economic Development Corporation, I’m not sure if he’s double dipping or if this is a press release from the taxpayer funded corporation, either way, i’ll reprint it here for purposes of education.

In August 2009, the Sheboygan Development Corporation amended its articles of incorporation, and the Sheboygan County Economic Development Corporation emerged as a new private/public nonprofit organization with a countywide focus and representation.

In 2010, the SCEDC established an aggressive five-year strategic plan. Our strategic goals are to support creation and retention of 3,500 jobs and to assist businesses in activities that will bring $100 million in new capital investments to Sheboygan County by 2014. To reach these goals, the SCEDC offers a comprehensive portfolio of services tobusiness and initiatives that support economic development.

In two short years, the SCEDC’s accomplishments include assisting local businesses with the creation and retention of 946 jobs and attraction of nearly $50 million in new capital investments to the county.

We developed “The Promise of Sheboygan County” branding video and launched www.SheboyganCountyEDC.com as an online business resourcecenter.

Working with the new Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation and the City of Plymouth, we helped secure a financial assistance package for Dairy Farmers of America Inc.

DFA’s $13 million capital investment in its Plymouth facility resulted in the retention of 357 jobs with a total payroll of more than $20 million. The SCEDC also helped bring together stakeholders and coordinated local efforts to restore vital freight rail service between Plymouth and Sheboygan Falls, working to secure commitments of nearly $3 million toward the project.

Every dollar the SCEDC received frominvestorssince 2010 has resulted in a return on investment in Sheboygan County of $79.

The SCEDC is creating strong partnerships between area businesses, municipalities, and community organizations help build a better future for Sheboygan County. We encourage you to visit our website, and look forward to sharing our positive outlook and new developments with you each month.

Love the pulled it out of my butt “Every dollar the SCEDC received from investors since 2010 has resulted in a return on investment in Sheboygan County of $79″. Even using your trickle down your leg accounting methods, I see a net loss.

You don’t really think that you get to take credit for state spending do you?

If so, you also get to look at the movement of Polarware and place this on your list of accomplishments. SEDC, SCEDC, a name and vision change doesn’t make this a new organization. Stand up, take a bow. This was done with the same taxpayer money.

How’s the Armory doing, I mean Spaceport Sheboygan? It’s rotting on your watch, this is one of your babies, you know this. Why does it sit empty, even when it’s open? Other than a constant flow of City Workers and a paid employee or two, very few have entered the doors of this building so worthless you had to have it.

I know that Sheboygan Falls is light years away, yet you must remember Sigma Aldrich. How many $millions were spent to persuade the corporation to move a planned expansion to the “depressed area of Verona? This was huge, a major blow to Sheboygan County that went unreported by our local media.

SCEDC has done nothing for Sheboygan, your omission of the City pretty much confirms this. Thank you Patrick, pat yourself on the back one more time. Can’t wait for your article on how you helped secure a casino.

Great Lakes Legacy Act – Sheboygan

Dirt dirt dirt dirt, 4 feet of river bottom, will be moving from Sheboygan, Wisconsin to the Sheboygan County Airport.

The Sheboygan River has lied toxic and unused for the majority of my life. It will never be back to what it was, yet we can start using it again this fall.

Muck Truck Drivers – 30,000 truckloads of river bed, $30 million to $45 million, paid for by the EPA. That’s about $1,500 per truckload.

Partnerships prove that an insane amount of money can be obtained for projects. According to our Mayor this could total over $80 million for total dredging project. Bring on the cruise ships, yet nobody talks about real transportation. How about a green fairy of sorts, ferry, as in Manitowoc had it’s day with coal. Sheboygan could ride natural gas boom

Weird Local Blogger Takes Pictures – Gets Chided

Here’s my, hey, maybe I should read what I write before posting it comment on my local newspaper of records story on Asher and Bob’s time on big Chicago radio.

Yes, it is true that unlike many of The Press staff, I live in Sheboygan, not the greater Milwaukee area. Yet, I’m not a photographer. I’m a photojournalist, and the difference is dramatic enough that an entire profession of highly skilled visual journalists work under the banner.

Listen to the show

It’s strange that in covering a story, I become the focus, yet, I’m that important around here, I guess. It’s not that I’m not worth mentioning, there’s definitely infotainment value in my inclusion. Some very important things involving Asher’s one ended feud with Mayor Ryan happened yesterday, and aren’t included in the story, we’ll save that for my story.

“At one point, Brandmeier chided Brunette for coming into the studio to take pictures, likening the curly, long-haired photographer to rock musician Sammy Hagar.

“Get this crazy guy out of here,” Brandmeier said on the air. “This ‘Sammy Hagar.’ Get out of here ‘Sammy.’ Get that out of here, you crazy nut … I don’t know what he’s doing with that camera. Who is that guy?”"

This was a political comedy piece with six willing participants and a news angle. A good journalist does what they can to get the story, I got a great one yesterday. My involvement was similar to the role I played when I followed Presidential candidates throughout Iowa in the previous election cycles.

Yes, I admit to travelling with Senator John Kerry to a pheasant hunt (full disclosure: I did not accept the pheasant John offered me), and with Howard Dean to an Iowa farm. I was subsequently “chided” by Howard: “sit down, the people came to see me, not you”. Silly me, how unprofessional, what was I thinking? Oh yeah, It’s my freaking job!

This was a political comedy piece with six willing participants and a news angle, I’m happy to play my role as the creator of SheVegas, the brand. Not to be confused with others attempts to co-opt my love child. I don’t usually plug my collection of Sheboygan kitten photos known as SheVegas.com. Heck, I don’t even post 99% of the stuff I produce, yet feel it’s more informative than the brain cleanser you’re using know.

Sheboygan Mayor Bob Ryan & Joran van der Sloot

Tonight: Joran van der Sloot in his own words & can city recall mayor because of alcoholism?

Dr. Drew is live tonight! He and his guests will examine admitted murderer Joran van der Sloot’s handwriting samples in which the killer reveals his thoughts about Natalee Holloway, gambling, and former girlfriends.

And citizens of a town in Wisconsin are trying to recall the mayor who has alcoholism. Mayor Bob Ryan and his wife Mary join Dr. Drew to discuss his public behavior and if it’s grounds for losing his job. Dr. Drew  will define what “problem drinking” is and how you can help those who suffer from it.

Daniel Baldwin vs Jeff Conaway – Celebrity Rehab – “unbeknownst”

Watch Dr. Drew tonight and every weeknight at 9 on HLN.

This would be like Richard Nixon appearing with Charles Manson to discuss Watergate on the David Frost show. Great warmup for my trip toWGN studios in Chicago to watch Asher Heimermann discuss the Sheboygan Mayoral recall with Jonathon Brandmeier. You can listen to the show live here. He will be featured between 8 and 9. I’m there as a journalist:)

I listened to this dude from the 70′s  in Wisconsin to the 80′s while I was the king of all media in Freeport, Illinois. Should be fun, I think Rod Blagojevich and Danny Bonaduce will be joining us*

Danger – Schwoerer Campaign Running on Thin Ice

“@shevegas ..and your point is?”

“Can you link me to this promise? Between record temp.s & routine rink maintenance this seems like sensationalism, not journalism”

@timgorges Your link is here, a Sheboygan leader must see reality sheboyganpress.com/article/201201… Schwoerer for Mayor  post.ly/4sJGU

I didn’t enjoy the uninformed swipe at me in the comments of this article either.

“Does it seem too warm for an ice skating rink? Nonsense, according to Harbor Centre Business Improvement District manager Randy Schwoerer.”

“Technically, it’s ready now,” Schwoerer said Wednesday afternoon.

Technically? Let’s talk reality, this is a minor issue, why make it a big one, silly human pride?“Every day was anywhere from 10 to 100,” Schwoerer said. “Whenever you drove by it, unless the wind or weather was extremely cold, there was somebody skating on it.”

These quotes belong to The Sheboygan Press, I’m kinda sorta stealing them in a legal way, it’s called fair use, they do the same. Help fight SOPA & PIPA

I’m not against the rink, I’m against people claiming success where it is at best questionable. If this is what you pin your hat to, don’t blame me when the wind blows it off, you can expect me to point out that: The Emperor has no Ice.

Nothing personal Tim, politics is simply business.

Asher did tell me he wasn’t going to be at the debate because of the snow, I guess he meant it. He also told me repeatedly that he wasn’t voting for his bad self, he was voting for Randy Schwoerer. In fact Asher said he had already written a letter of support.

I never asked, I was enjoying my Hamburger (MKOP & B) with the works at Sheboygan Hamburger heavyweight Charcoal Inn Wednesday night.
